2008 August 31

Banksy hit New Orleans a couple of days ago and now takes on the KKK in Birmingham, Alabama.

This dude is on some “Trust Jesus” shit for real!

I read in the Birmingham News that the entire wall this was painted on has been taken down.
    Talk a serious collector!

The wall wasn’t taken down. A bunch of southern boys took black spray paint to it and covered the whole thing. Check it out here: http://raincoaster.com/2008/09/09/banksy-strikes-again/

I live in Birmingham, AL and find it almost offensive that Banksy portrays our city in this way. The KKK community here is very small, nearly nonexistent. Birmingham has a very high tolerance for people of all kinds. Most people here do not even think about race differences. Cottonwood, AL, though. . .that’s a different story.

Emma – I think he may have been referring to the historical treatment of African-Americans in Birmingham, particularly during the Civil Rights Movement – the Klan was particularly brutal towards them during that time period.
