Pugs Atomz feat. Naledge, Gravity & Carlos – I’m Gonna Leave
Naledge on Pugs:
“Pugz was a staple when I was coming up. His overall style influenced a lot of people in my circle to become emcees. His sound is as vintage chicago hip hop as they come.”

A long episode that doesn’t have a lot of jokes in it, cuz I really feel bad for the kid and am not trying to clown him. I know he keeps telling himself it’s okay to have everyone hating him as long as they keep paying attention. But at this point it’s clearly not okay. For some background on Charles Hamilton’s issues:
Going In On Charles Hamilton (good overview tho a couple of details are off):
Charles Hamilton’s Greatest Fails
J Dilla’s Mother Speaks on Charles’ claims about her family(How do you wind up starting beef with Dilla’s mother?? I couldn’t write that in a script. Where can you even go from here? Beef with Sasha and Malia’s puppy?)
From Marilyn’s Site: “Co-opting advertising genres and related spaces, she takes a new platform to direct her first video. The eight minute high definition video, Green Pink Caviar (2009) is a lush and sensual voyeuristic hallucination. Filmed with macro lenses, she captures the most minute movements of female mouths licking candy and cake decoration. Driven by her fascination with the body, Minter’s film sets the stage for chance to happen.”
Detroit’s hip hop ambassador to the world, DJ House Shoes, speaks on Charles Hamilton falsely claiming J. Dilla executive produced his upcoming album.

Royce was recently interviewed about the Charles Hamilton/J Dilla situation and he pretty much saved Chuck from getting his ass kicked.

What do you think about Charles Hamilton making J Dilla the Executive Producer?
“I like Charles, I like Charles a lot. I think he’s definitely is still at that age where he just says things, and that’s where he needs to grow out of just saying stuff. I don’t think a lot of people understand Detriot is a whole other world and we don’t like you talking about our people and the people that are enforcing these things are n*ggas that will kill you. So you know I got that situation under control. I know who to call to make sure that nothing serious will happen to him, but he’s definately playing with fire. Know what I’m saying. Dilla and Proof n*ggas are very really sensitive about those two deaths.
You really really… I looked at it like it was a compliment but i just know how my n*gga look at it and just how my n*ggas would look at it which is how they responded to him. He was going back and forth before I even knew about it, Mecca just brought it my attention today. I lost my phone yesterday and once i get my phone back I’m going to call the right people and make sure they know peace everything. I don’t think Charles meant any malice by it but he just has to understand the way people will take it, because its not always about your intentions. Your intentions you might now always know your intentions sometime you have to think about someone took what you said instead of just saying ‘yo that wasn’t my intention.’ You might not of meant to piss somebody off, but if you piss someone off that gotta be peace’d up.: Full Interview

according to karen civil:
Demevolist front man, Charles Hamilton, has never been one to “follow the crowd”. In an act that has several members of the Detroit hip-hop community upset, Hamilton, who is prepping the release of his Interscope debut, The Perfect Life, named the late producer/rapper, James Dewitt Yancey (J. Dilla), as executive producer. Charles reached out to KarenCivil.com to explain his rationale behind the decision.
“I believe in the paranormal,” said Hamilton. “My thing is there was a certain sound I was looking for and hoping for, and dare I say most people can believe me if they want to, but post life, J. Dilla guided me through the mastering process.”
The “Sonic The Hedgehog” infatuated rapper also wanted to ensure that if Dilla’s sound would be prevalent on the album, it would be done in the most authentic fashion. “I also used a sample that Dilla used called “To The Other Man” by James Ingram. You know like in order to achieve a vintage sound, I received instruction on how to record a song from digital to vinyl and then vinyl to back to digital and master the entire album from there, ” said Charles Hamilton. Regardless if many view the move as odd, Hamilton’s stances remain true. While he never met the acclaimed producer, his inspiration was enough to make such a bold move. A move so bold that C.H. has promised proceeds to the Yancey estate.
“I know Ma Dukes Yancey has been suffering financially for some time. There is an eccentric story behind his publishing and estate in general and the least I can do is give him credit because I did use his spirit to help me mold the sound,” said Charles. “And helping give finances to the Yancey Estate… now the relationship that I have is irrelevant because most people haven’t given a dime, because if they have she wouldn’t be in the position she’s in.”
While not confirmed, Hamilton has marked June 23 as the release date for The Perfect Life.

Mos Def is one my true inspirations and to celebrate the release of his new LP, we’re doing different things all week. Today I posted some very vintage Mos Def that I happened upon at Dr. Wax on the southside of Chicago more than a decade ago. It’s definitely something for the Mos Def fan.

Says DJ Hyphen:
There are some artists in this industry who are talented, and then there are a few that seem to be on another level, closer to genius status. I won’t put the pressure on the homey Exile by calling him a genius, but he’s clearly working on another plane than your average ‘dope’ producer. Between his beats, his live MPC performances, his beatboxing, and even his rapping, he hears things that we don’t, and puts sounds together in ways that we would never think to do.
A little while back, Ex came through Sound Session to talk all about his latest opus, Radio, an album crafted entirely out of sounds culled from his home radio. He detailed the creative process behind the project and how it gave him a deeper respect for radio in general. He also talked about his crazy live MPC sets with DJ Day, how his family influenced his music, his upcoming Boy Meets World album with Fashawn, a follow up to Blu’s Below The Heavens, and the 2892412931 other projects he’s got on his plate.
